------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What if music was a unit of measurement? If we consider music itself as a recording device, what is it recording?

In this album, we wanted to use our music making as a way of capturing how we move through time in the day to day.

In late summer 2022, we made a series of daily recordings: 7 recordings of Pierre-Nicolas playing Frédéric Chopin's op. 64 no. 2 on a different instrument every day and 6 field recordings of Henri biking through The Hague. This album presents them interlaced with one another. In this way, it is not so much we that recorded the music. It is the tracks that are the record of that specific week of our lives.

The Chopin tracks are a mix of recordings made with an iPhone XS and a Zoom H2n. The Netherlands field recordings were also captured on a Zoom H2n and were subsequently used as material for electronic improvisations on a digital instrument created in Max 8. These improvisations were performed and recorded on a daily basis over one week in May, 2023. Two recordings were omitted from the final collection on account of poetic discretion.

"cis" as in C# in german - so 7 times Chopin's op. 64 no. 2 in C#
